Description
The Queensland Child Protection Week (QCPW) is held in the first full week of September of every year. The purpose is to raise awareness aimed at the prevention of child abuse and neglect. QCPW is coordinated by the Queensland Child Protection Week Committee (QCPW Committee), under the auspicing body of Act for Kids. QCPW Committee develop and facilitate a range of activities which include: • Stakeholder engagement • Event co-ordination of QCPW • Promotion of QCPW • Financial administration of grants • Evaluation and advice on QCPW The QCPW Committee must include a representative from the Department of Families, Seniors, Disability Services and Child Safety (DFSDSCS). The Annual Work Plan for 2025 found at Attachment 1 contains a detailed description of the tasks/activities and timeframes to be undertaken/completed for 2025 Queensland Child Protection Week. Annual Work Plans for future years of this agreement will be negotiated between the department and Act for Kids by 31 March of each year. In regards to obtaining additional funding through sponsorship, the Department of Premier and Cabinet (DPC) requires development of a coordinated whole-of-government sponsorship agreement in line with the Queensland Government Sponsorship Policy and requires Act for Kids to request future sponsorship through the sponsorship gateway portal. https://www.qld.gov.au/about/events-awards-honours/events/sponsorship-opportunities/sponsorship-request An itemised expenditure report for DCYJMA funding and a register of all grant recipients is required by 30 November of each year (Attachment 2). The Minister for Families, Seniors and Disability Services and Minister for Child Safety and the Prevention of Domestic and Family Violence will be given the opportunity to participate in community events held by the QCPWC. The Minister and QCPW Committee will provide a joint statement to promote QCPW and announce award recipients with the Minister being invited to speak and present at the Awards ceremony. Logo use and recognition requirements: The Queensland Government must be recognised as the major funding provider through priority placement of logo on promotional materials; acknowledgement statement on QCPW website sponsorship page; and acknowledgement in media releases. - Social Services
